The SF Board of Supervisors has initiated the process to recognize the SF Eagle as a cultural landmark. On Febuary 2, 2021, District 6 Supervisor, Matt Haney, championed a resolution to initiate landmark status for the venue, citing the remarkable role the SF Eagle has played as a rallying point for the local LGBTQ+ and leather communities over nearly 40 years of operation. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted 11-0 to approve the measure, with District 4 Supervisor Gordon Mar, District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin and District 11 Supervisor Ahsha Safai joining as co-sponsors in support.
